A capriccio — or caprice — was not always a form centered on virtuosity alone. Originally, it was wedded to a long tradition of pure improvisation. Jerome Mouffe resurrects these once forgotten traditions of spontaneity in performance. "Capricco" is an homage to the early nineteenth century Romantic tradition and recalls the time when the performer was also expected to share in creativity the final musical result.
